Symptoms of shin-bang

(Symptom content needed)

Causes of shin-bang

Shin-bang has been variously attributed to the following causes:

  • Improperly fitting ski boots
  • Boots that are too soft (i.e. boots that flex forward easily)
  • Boots that are too hard (i.e. boots that do not flex forward easily)
  • Underdeveloped muscular structure in the calf and shin
  • Using a stance that is too far back on the skis
  • Using a stance that is too far forward on the skis
  • Skiing in hard or icy conditions, particularly when the terrain has moguls

Remedies for shin-bang

There are many purported remedies for shin-bang, however there does not seem to be a consensus in the skiing community as to the most effective cure. Some remedies commonly circulated by boot-fitting professionals, avid skiers, and/or medical professionals:

  • Boot adjustments to reduce the amount of movement of pressure to the shin area, including:

    • The addition of extra materials around the shin area, such as shims, pads, or plates
    • Additional straps to tighten the upper-calf of the boot, thus reducing movement throughout the shin area
    • Custom-fit ski-boot liners
    • Changes to heel height, boot-cant (the lateral orientation of the calf with respect to the base of the boot) or other adjustments to the orientation of the foot within the boot
  • RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation
  • Temporary or extended break from skiing activity
  • Materials or chemicals added to the shin area to reduce abrasion, such as armor-all, plastic bags, stockings worn under or over ski-socks
  • Shaving the hair from the shin and the lower-calf

Turbo timer internal combustion engine usually

Posted on June 10th, 2007 in Uncategorized by admin

A turbo timer is a device designed to keep an automotive engine running for a pre-specified period of time in order to automatically execute the cool-down period required to prevent premature turbo wear and failure. After a period of driving when a turbocharger has been working hard, it is important to let the engine run at idle speed for a period of time, allowing the compressor assembly to cool from the lower gas temperatures in both the exhaust and intake tracts. At the same time the lubricating oil from the engine is able to circulate properly so the turbine won’t burn the lubricating oil that would otherwise be trapped within the charger with the turbine rotating at high speed. With regard to modern automotive turbochargers, the need for a turbo timer can be eliminated by simply ensuring the car does not produce any ‘boost’ (during driving) for several minutes prior to the ignition being shut off.

Scissor kick (strike) Kick start

Posted on June 6th, 2007 in Uncategorized by admin

A scissor kick or Gunting (in Malay Language) in martial arts is used to describe certain kicking techniques that resemble a pair of scissors. It may describe a mid-air kick in which both legs are swung or kicked out in different directions, to strike two opponents simultaneously or in rapid succession. This is particularly common in some schools of Taekwondo, Vovinam, and some Chinese martial arts, also in Malay Silat. The term can also be used to describe a sweep where one leaps in the air with one’s body side ways to take down the opponent with one’s legs in a Y position.<ref>thefightgame.tv. Techniques & Related Terms</ref> In san shou, the scissor kick is used as a mid air take down where one leg presses on the opponent’s chest while the other leg positioned behind the opponent’s knees, and is delivered with enough symmetrical force to knock the opponent down; the scissor leg take down is one of the more advanced take downs in san shou and is an effective tool used in many matches.

This move is also well-known in the professional wrestling world among many wrestlers and fans, however the move is done differently compared to the versions above. The attacker jumps (from a standing or running position) using one leg for momentum and drives the other leg into the back of the head and the neck of the opponent, forcing them face first into the ground. Throughout his career, Booker T, a former superstar in WWE, is credited to having popularizing the move. Various other wrestlers who uses this technique, such as former WWE superstar Bull Buchanan and current TNA wrestler Ron Killings, have adopted it as finishers as well.
