Rubble film (German: Trümmerfilm) was the style of choice for those films made directly after World War II dealing with the impact of the ravages of the War on the countries at the center of battle. The style is characterized by its use of location exteriors among the “rubble” of bombed-down cities to bring the gritty, depressing reality of the lives of the civilian survivors in those early years. Notable films to utilize this style are “Germany Year Zero”, “The Murderers Are Among Us” and “Affair Blum”. The style was mostly used by filmmakers in the rebuilding film industries of Eastern Europe, Italy and the former Nazi Germany.

Clark Cromwell Haggans (born January 10, 1977 in Torrance, California) plays outside linebacker for the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers. He became a regular starter at left outside linebacker in 2004 when the team released long-time starter Jason Gildon. Since then Haggans has helped the Steelers win the Super Bowl

Haggans’ role in the Steelers defense has been steadily increasing, as has his performance. Haggans recorded 6 quarterback sacks in 2004, and had 9 sacks during the 2005 regular season. Haggans was second on the Steelers defense in tackles for Super Bowl XL, and also recorded a sack, helping the Steelers defeat the Seattle Seahawks. Haggans has slowly become one the best linebackers in the NFL. He is now considered top prospect, and is one of the main reasons that the Steelers hold one of the toughest defenses in the league.

The Steelers drafted Haggans out of Colorado State University, where he played defensive end, in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. Haggans was a productive pass rusher at Colorado State, where he walked on as a freshman, eventually earning a scholarship. He was a teammate of former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter.

Motorcycle drag racing (also known as “Sprints”) involves two participants lining up at a dragstrip with a signaled starting line. Upon the starting signal, the riders accelerate down a quarter mile long, two lane, straight paved track where their elapsed time and terminal speed are recorded. The rider to reach the finish line first is the winner. The most well-known form of motorcycle drag racing is the Pro Stock Bike category, although several other categories exist, including 1,000 horsepower nitromethane engine Top Fuel Bikes[1].

Anzani motorcycles produced

Posted on August 6th, 2008 in Uncategorized by admin

The Anzani was an engine manufacturer founded by the Italian Alessandro Anzani (1877-1956). The company produced proprietary engines for aircraft, cars, boats, and motorcycles in factories in Britain, France and Italy.

From his native Italy Anzani moved to France where he became involved in cycle racing. He moved on to motor cycles and designed and built a record breaking lightweight engine. In 1907 he set up a small workshop in Paris with three staff and while they were building his engines he designed a hydrofoil powered by one of his engines and propellors. He supplied one of his engines to Enrico Forlanini and developed it further into a three cylinder radial air cooled engine ideal for the new aeroplanes. One of the early engines was supplied to Louis Blériot who used it or his successful crossing of the English Channel in 1909.

Demand for the engines continued to grow and the original Paris workshop was replaced by a new factory at Courbevoie, Paris, and one in London was also added as well as licenced production by other makers. Another factory at Monza, Italy was added in 1914.

In 1920 Anzani turned to motor racing and built a smallcar with one of his 750 cc two cylinder engines, air cooled of course, which won several competitions. They also made a 1098cc cyclecar between 1923 and 1924.

On his 50th birthday in 1927 Anzani decided to sell his factories in Paris and London keeping only the Monza works for sentimental reasons, and managed by Natale Baccanti.

In the UK, British Anzani outsourced the manufacture of their engines to Coventry Ordnance Works Ltd. In the 1920s it was refinanced as British Vulpine Engine Company and then again as British Anzani Engineering Company concentrating on small engines and car and motorcycle powerplants. They Supplied AC with the 1496cc side-valve four cylinder (that would become AC’s famous 2-litre motor), Frazer-Nash with an 1496cc ohv engine, Morgan with a V-twin, and Squire with the R1 twin cam engine. Their most well known products came to be in motorcycles, lawnmowers and outboard engines. Cotton and Greeves motorcycles used Anzani motors.

In later years the company diversified and as the British Anzani Group it finally went into liquidation in 1980.
